Present: Lee McGrath, John Mitchell, Cara Johnson, Sue Sopala, Jim Cloud and Becky Estep.
The meeting was called to order by Lee McGrath. The Gospel was proclaimed (Matthew 5:14-16) and we prayed the Prayer for the New Evangelization.
Committee members shared their evangelization stories.
Committee reviewed and discussed the evangelization brochure.
Next Steps: + Becky will make revisions and send to Lee for approval. + Approved revisions will be sent to Cara to have printed in-house. + Cara will translate brochure from English to Spanish and have printed in-house. + Committee members will distribute brochures after Mass and welcome feedback. + Lee thanked John and Becky for their work on the brochure.
Committee members shared their thoughts on the Peter Herbeck, evangelization speaker event.
The following are just a few phrases/words that were shared to describe members’ experience:
+ The next speaker will be Sherry Weddell on November 21 at Christ the King. Lee asked that we save the date and invite a friend to attend.
Cara reported that Many Faces is going well.
This takes place on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7-9 PM at MQHR Church.
Next gathering is September 17 and will begin with bi-lingual Mass, followed by sharing, fellowship and food.
Lee updated committee regarding Catholics Returning Home (CRH). The following are highlights: + Lee presented the Evangelization Committee’s proposal to the Pastoral Council of bringing CRH to MQHR. The proposal was well received.
Fr. Dan took the proposal to staff where it was approved.
The Evangelization Committee was asked not to start CRH until after ACTS is rolled out.
Deacon Tim Weinmann has agreed to train team members.
+ Lee asked the committee to pray about whom to ask to be on the CRH team and asked that we send her our recommendations. She also asked us to pray about potential committee members and prayer warriors and send those recommendations to her as well.
Cara updated committee members on ACTS.
The following are highlights: + The first retreat will be offered to English speaking women from April 14-17, 2016, followed approximately a week later with a retreat for English speaking men.
The retreat for Spanish speaking women will be the weekend of the Derby followed with a retreat for Spanish speaking men the weekend before Memorial Day.
+ Lee asked that we pray for the ACTS retreats.
New Business:
+ It was recommended that due to some members being in Philadelphia for the Pope’s visit and therefore unable to meet in September that we have two meetings in October instead.
The next meetings are: October 1st and October 22nd at 7 PM.
