![]() Fr. Miguel Alvizures, Pastoral Vicar |
Father Miguel Alvizures was born in Palencia, Guatemala in September 29th of 1966. I am the 7th of 15 children. When I finished my high school I went to college in Guatemala City to study business. I had several jobs in Guatemala and eventually I travelled to Houston Texas to visit my sister Vilma. In Houston I was invited to enter the seminary by the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. In 2001 I was sent to Sacred Heart School of Theology in Wisconsin for my seminary formation. I was ordained priest in May 31st of 2008 in Houston TX. I served two years as a parocial vicar at St. Theresa parish in Sugar Land TX, and in 2010 I was transferred to St. Ambrose Church in Houston TX. By the end of 2012 I asked Cardinal Dinardo for a leave of absence and went back to Guatemala. When I was at Sacred Heart Seminary, I met several seminarians from the Diocese of Lexington. It is because of these friends that I came to visit the Diocese of Lexington in September 2013 and I was invited to join the diocese by Bishop Gainer. In April 9, 2014 I travelled to Lexington and on April 10th I was appointed as a parochial vicar to Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish in Lexington. |
