In Attendance: John Mitchell, Joe Osteen, Ginger Osteen, Marge Mattingly, Ron Hoctor, Reno Sartori, Laura Hack
1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm and the opening prayer included the USCCB's New Evangelization Prayer and was followed by Faith Clips on the power of the Holy Eucharist and evangelization from Fr. Baron and the Catholicism Series.
2. Two other Faith Clips were shared in regard to the New Evangelization. The committee openly reflected on the essential element of our baptisms and the Holy Eucharist when we try to understand and express or live-out the New Evangelization.
3. We all agreed that we had to develop a plan for leading our community to understand and live-out our evangelistic character as being Baptized, Confirmed, and fed by the Eucharist in the Holy Mass. When the past idea of learning to share our faith stories (and helping lead the parish to do the same) several members expressed that they, either were not comfortable being able to do that yet or they were unable to do so in a matter of three minutes. The idea was shelved to follow the 'sharing our stories' theme that we had been working towards.
4. Laura introduced a plan towards implementing the Catholicism Series for our parish. We discussed offering the viewing of each dvd several times over several weeks, and at different times during the week, so that hopefully more people would be able to participate. Late September will be a good time to start, and considering Advent and Lent, the series could be completed by next May. (Since meeting, Fr. Dan has suggested that Fr. Arock would be a candidate for helping to lead the effort of participating in the Catholicism discussions.)
5. Committee members were given one of four different Catholicism dvd's to view until the next meeting.
6. Instead of sending cards of congratulations to each of this year's parochial middle and high school students, each parochial student's family will be called by Angie Allen or Laura and invited for a special blessing at the 11am Mass Sunday of next weekend.
7. After discussing everyone's vacationing schedule for the summer, it was decided that we will meet in June and not convene again until August.
8. We shared Closing Prayer of the Living the Eucharist Prayer, Year I, and the meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.
