Members present: John Mitchell, Jim Fritz, Joseph Groves, Edward Shuman, and Tony Kernan
Meeting started with John leading the group in prayer. Gospel John 3:16-18 was read by Jim. Group shared their reflection on the reading.
Discussion started by Joe on DropBox. Committee was queried on whether or not they wanted to continue to use DropBox for storage of the homily recordings. Comments from the committee were positive on continuing to use DropBox. A couple comments were made on the struggle to link the homily correctly to DropBox. After some discussion, John shared the solution he had found for this issue, and he has updated the committee’s document on how to post a homily on the website.
Jim lead the second agenda item on issues he had found with the website. Jim received an updated stewardship directory of supported ministries. With this directory he has been working with John and Tony to update outdated e-mail addresses and phone numbers. He has also had them remove ministries that Mary Queens does not support anymore.
Jim brought up the question, if the website should restructure its self to be structured the same as the stewardship directory? John mentioned during this time, that he has received another complaint from someone on not being able to find a particular ministry they are looking for on the website. John suggested a solution him and Jim have currently been working on. John has added an activities directory link to the website’s home page. On this new page, John has created a list of activities and ministries currently being supported by Mary Queen. The list will be alphabetized and provide links to the activities/ministries the person is trying to find on the website. Everyone in the group was in agreement of proceeding with this solution. John is currently working on updating the webpage and will keep us posted on his progress. John will also be including this new webpage in the “How to use this Website” page. Jim has agreed to continue looking back through the directory and making sure all the information is up to date.
John has provided a solution to Kelly’s request. She wanted a way for people to submit their e-mail address to get on the Mary Queen mailing list. John has provided a link on the Mary Queen homepage labeled “Update your email address & information with the church office”. When the user clicks this link, they will have an e-mail open up with the information they need to provide. Once the use is done, the e-mail will be sent directly to Kelly.
Tony is continuing to work on updating the daily prayer and the digital bulletin board. Tony reported things are going good.
John reported that we are currently still getting our tracking information for the website. He mentioned, for some reason the tracker isn’t showing up at the bottom if you are using Google Chrome as your browser.
John has added some new key words and meta tags, to the website header to help direct people to our website.
New item on the agenda was brought up by John. John queried the committee on what things the committee would like to see us placing in our headlines. Fr. Dan gave John a great suggestion about posting information on the new evangelization Pope Francis is talking about. John has went ahead and added this item to our headlines. Other suggestions from the group were: Deadline for confirmation, check bulletin for new announcements, parish festival, and Jim offered to check with Kelly on getting updates for the bulletins sent to us.
Group agreed to take July off for the summer, since we have no pressing issues for the website.
Group also agreed on the next date for meeting being August 10th.
Report submitted by Otto:
In terms of a report for my our parish Philosophy/Theology webpage; except for a few small additions to announce that I will not be adding to the webpage for some small time to come. I will monitor it and facilitate any dialogue which occurs. This is due to taking scripture courses through the University of Dayton in preparation for future work by me with deacons and lay professional ministers of a western diocese. In short, I am on a sabbatical. Also, as far as I can tell, there has been no comments to any of the articles on the website for the past many weeks.
Current dates known by Joe, that he can’t record the homily for: 6-28/29, 7-12/13.
