Divine Providence Way at Cliffview will serve people suffering from addiction
LEXINGTON — Divine Providence, Inc., the Catholic Action Center and the Catholic Diocese of Lexington unveiled their plans for the next chapter of the Cliffview retreat facility in Lancaster, Kentucky, on Nov. 8. Divine Providence Way at Cliffview will provide a unique, holistic, sustainable healing community for men and women who are suffering with drug and alcohol addiction.
Mountain Comprehensive Care will operate the therapeutic facility with the Catholic Action Center and community partners including BCTC developing sustainable agriculture programs and educational opportunities for the complete environment of holistic living. Participants will be accepted into the program in early 2020.
Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv., of Lexington expressed his gratitude for all who have supported Cliffview through the years and said it was satisfying to see the facility’s mission evolve into one of celebrating the healing presence of God through service to his people.
“Pope Francis decries a ‘throwaway culture’ that treats people like disposable objects. This is especially true with issues of addiction, where people’s struggles are often invisible or, worse, met with indifference by the wider community,” said Bishop Stowe. “This will become a place of accompaniment, which leads to new life.”
Cliffview is located on 42 acres on a peninsula formed by Herrington Lake and the Dix River in Garrard County, Kentucky. The serene, peaceful environment will allow the combined professional therapeutic services, training and educational opportunities, along with the dignity, comfort and beauty of the facilities to allow participants to discover their strengths and establish wholeness of mind, body and spirit.
The retreat and conference center at Cliffview, which served the Catholic Diocese of Lexington for over 30 years, closed in October.
